Become A Chapter Officer

Want to make a difference? Want to become more involved?

We want you to become a leader in our Chapter of APCO!

Becoming an APCO (Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials) chapter officer accelerates your career, builds a powerful network of 9-1-1 and emergency communications leaders, and gives you a direct voice in shaping public safety standards and local training.

The top reasons you should step into a leadership role within our Chapter include:

  • Career Advancement & Credibility: Holding a board title (President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, or Executive Council Rep) demonstrates proven leadership and management experience. It proves to your employer that you are ready for director or executive-level roles in your agency.
  • Exclusive Networking: You gain direct access to decision-makers, vendors, and peers across your state. This expands your professional rolodex for mentorship, career opportunities, and collaborations.
  • Shape Industry Policies & Training: Chapter officers decide the direction of local meetings, seminars, and training. You have a direct hand in bringing specific educational courses to your region and advocating for legislative issues that impact 9-1-1 telecommunicators.
  • Professional Development: You will build transferable skills in strategic planning, budgeting, team management, and public speaking, all while giving back to your community.

The chapter is looking for motivated members from all types of backgrounds:

  • 9-1-1 Operations
  • Trainers
  • Supervisors / Shift Leaders
  • Managers
  • Technologists (IT, RF, GIS, etc.)

Note: Per APCO International policy, Candidates for an APCO Chapter Office must be a Full Member (Individual or Group member) or APCO Life Member at the time of election. The office of CCAM requires you be a APCO Commercial Member.
